The number symbols 1 to 10
and 0 as well as the signs +, -, and = will be introduced.
In the previous level children understood and learned
to state the addition facts that they found with the
Stern Structural Arithmetic materials, saying, ‘6
and 4 are as big as 10’. In Level III
they learn to use the + sign and the = sign to set up
an equation. They will learn to record such a fact using
the proper signs and symbols:
6 + 4 = 10.
Children should be able to perform the following tasks:

- To put the numbers in sequence 1 to 10
- To know the number for each block
- To know the meaning of the plus sign
- To know that 0 stands for no block
