Pupils:

• review facts learned in previous teaching
• discover structure of 2-place numbers
• learn to solve for x
• learn to analyse word problems
• learn the value of coins
• learn to tell time and write time
• master facts through understanding the characteristics of each structurally related group:
  • adding 9, adding to 9
  • adding 8, adding to 8
  • combinations that make 11 and 12
  • doubles and neighbours (teens)
  • related subtraction facts for each group
  
  
• transfer facts to higher decades
• build 3-place numbers
• understand regrouping (carrying and borrowing) in addition and subtraction
