Sequential Development of Concepts
Pupils:
- discover and master the multiplication facts (tables 1 up to 12)
- understand the relationship between multiplication and division
- master the basic division facts
- discover division with remainders
- understand the reasons underlying the steps in long division
A convenient way to teach multiplication and division, from the basics of covering tables up to 12, to applications such as multiplying several tens, recording results in columns, long division, and problem solving.
Fluency, understanding and interest are reinforced by multi-sensory teaching with games and activities.
